Overview
Ear seeds are a needle-free way to stimulate selected points on the outer ear. In traditional auricular therapy, the ear is viewed as a small representation of the body, with points associated with different body regions and functions. Point selection aims to support balance and complement the priorities of your treatment.
Tiny seeds or beads are held against the skin with adhesive. Gently pressing them provides acupressure stimulation, allowing you to take an active role in your care between visits. The effect comes from pressure, rather than medicine released from the seeds.
What to expect
Your practitioner will assess your ears and skin sensitivity, select the points, and apply a small number of seeds or beads. You will be shown how gently and how often to press them, how long to wear them, and when to remove them. Remove them sooner if redness, itching, swelling, or persistent discomfort develops.
Ear seeds may be provided at no additional cost at the end of any acupuncture session, including facial acupuncture, when your practitioner determines they are appropriate.
