A note from Sau Wan
“Why couldn’tyou?”

As a fifth-generation practitioner in a Chinese Medicine Family Lineage, I received private, hands-on clinical apprenticeship directly within this tradition. Through this mentorship, I fully inherited the lineage’s closely guarded clinical insights, diagnostic wisdom, and medical ethics. These teachings form the foundation of how I understand medicine and care for my patients.
Growing up in Hong Kong, Chinese medicine was part of everyday life. My mother added herbs to our meals and soups, and drinking herbal tea was a familiar part of getting better. My connection to this medicine began through those ordinary moments of being cared for.
Years after moving to the United States, my husband developed a severe migraine after a hike. Emergency visits and neurologist appointments did not bring relief. Then we visited a licensed acupuncturist, and he felt relief right away. After a month of prescribed herbal medicine, his migraine resolved and has not returned.
That experience prompted my husband to encourage me to pursue Chinese medicine professionally. His question, “Why couldn’t you?” stayed with me and ultimately persuaded me to return to school. I pursued formal classroom education and clinical training to earn my professional credentials in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. This education complemented the private, hands-on mentorship I received through my lineage, bringing together formal qualifications and generations of clinical wisdom. That path eventually led to Fingertips Acupuncture and Wellness.
The teachings of my lineage guide my attention throughout each treatment. Through pulse assessment, palpation, and careful needle manipulation, I observe how each patient responds and adjust treatment according to what they feel. This requires presence, patience, and a willingness to keep listening throughout the session.
The medical ethics passed down to me carry an equally important responsibility: to put the patient’s well-being first. I want every patient to have time to explain their concerns, ask questions, and feel heard. Having searched for help for someone I love, I understand how much that matters.
I am fluent in Chinese and English, so you can share your story in the language that feels most comfortable. Outside the clinic, I enjoy playing piano, doing Pilates, chasing after my toddler, and spending time with my family.

Our clinical approach
Generational wisdom.Beyond modern anatomy.
The heritage of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been passed down for generations through a strict apprenticeship system. This lineage preserved the clinical skills and medical secrets that shape a tactile, classical approach – one that differs sharply from modern dry needling or purely anatomical acupuncture.
Treatment focuses on classical meridian theory, holistic energetic balance, and precise, minimally invasive techniques. For pain and movement concerns, the intention is to avoid aggravating the injury, support active rehabilitation, and make thoughtful use of cross-body reflex relationships recognized in traditional practice.
