Overview
Auricular acupuncture uses very fine needles to stimulate selected points on the outer ear. Like ear seeds, it follows an auricular map that associates areas of the ear with body regions and functions.
Within TCM-informed care, these points are selected with the intention of helping regulate qi, calm the shen—often translated as the mind or spirit—and support the concerns identified during your consultation. Auricular acupuncture may be included alongside body acupuncture as part of an individualized treatment.
What to expect
After assessing your needs and cleaning the treatment area, your practitioner will gently insert sterile, single-use needles into selected ear points. You may feel a brief pinch, mild tenderness, or a sense of pressure. You will then rest quietly before the needles are removed. The number of points and length of treatment will be adjusted to your comfort and care plan.
