Restorative light and warmth used as a complement to care.

For prices and details, see our booking app.

Red and near-infrared light therapy uses selected wavelengths of light to interact with light-sensitive components within cells. This approach, known as photobiomodulation, is studied for its effects on cellular activity, tissue recovery, and skin health. Red light primarily reaches more superficial tissues, while near-infrared light can reach deeper, depending on the wavelength and treatment settings.

For skin care, research suggests that certain light-therapy protocols may gradually improve the appearance of fine lines and skin texture. Results depend on the device, dose, treatment schedule, and individual response.

At Fingertips, light therapy may complement acupuncture or facial acupuncture when appropriate for your needs. It provides an opportunity to rest quietly while receiving an additional element of care selected for your treatment plan.

What to expect

Your practitioner will review your health history, medications, skin sensitivity, and recent skin treatments before determining whether light therapy is suitable. You will rest comfortably while the panel is positioned at the appropriate distance from the treatment area. Eye protection will be provided and used according to the device’s instructions.

You may notice the visible red light and mild warmth, although near-infrared light itself is invisible and the treatment does not need to feel hot to have an effect. Exposure time and settings follow the device’s guidance and your treatment needs. Tell your practitioner if you experience excessive warmth, irritation, or discomfort.

When light therapy is used for cosmetic goals, changes are generally gradual and may require a series of treatments.
